Release: 11 February 2011
Cat#: Gomma DT 022

Yeah! Today the new Munk single will be released. “Keep My Secret” feat. Miss Pollyester (from Permanent Vacation) on the mic. Described by a journalist as sounding like “Feist meeting up with Caribou produced by some New York house legends like Masters at Work” – this is a teaser for the new Munk album “The Bird and the Beat” (to be released last week of February).

This sweety little song comes up with remixes by Welcome Stranger (Thomas from Rub n Tug), Jacques Renault from New York’s Runaway and Rory Phillips. We mailed out the tune a few days ago to DJ’s and the feedback is amazing: Breakbot, Tim Sweeney, Prins Thomas and many more are already playing it and hundreds of blogs around the world are talking about it already. Be ready for Munk the 3rd!

Munk “Violent Love” The Twelves Remix (Video)

Last week Gomma released the new Munk single Violent Love. With fat fat remixes by The Twelves and Social Disco Club.

It seems this is a real hit — as the song and the video are on millions of blogs since a few days. The song features Parisian singer Clara Cometti (former member of Koko Von Napoo and keyboarder of The Teenagers) and is taken from Munk’s “Mondo Vagabondo” 5 track E.P.

Check the original Violent Love video by Munich shooting stars Kill the Tills. Featuring french actress Jeanne Tremsal and Munkman & Mathias Modica himself.

Podcast #32: Munk Mix for DiscoSafari

This is a mix that Mathias did for the guys from great Italian blog DiscoSafari. The boys make parties in Milan, have one of the best record shops in Italy and produce hot & healing house music as The Barkings Dogs.

The mix starts with the not yet released Munk remix of the new Jolly Jams E.P. and after some more straight house tracks it gets more and more into mid 70ies weird discofunk with a quite Arabian and Spanish flavor. In between you also find new tracks by Tony Senghore / Shir Khan, Voltage and others.. Check out Munk’s edit of Turkish funk from Baris Manco or the super rare Italian funk tracks in the end.

Tracklist:
1) Jolly Jams Munk Remix
2) Unknown White Label
3) Ideal – Schöne Frau mit Geld (Losoul Remix)
4) Holy Mistress – Yes Duke
5) Giano & Nina Simone – Feelin’ Good
6) The Glimmers – Whomp That Sucker
7) Baris Manco – Hal Hal
8) Jack Jacko – Summer Time Swim
9) La Plage – La Plage
10) Munk – Violent Love (House Version)
11) Tony Senghore – If You Came Here (Shir Khan Remix)
12) Squarepusher – Cryptic Motion (Mr Oizo Remix)
13) Voltage – All Night (Munk Remix)
14) Patrizia Pellegrino – Automatic Amore (Nassau Edit)
15) El Bum – Ask Tekken

Munk – Mondo Vagabondo (EP)

Munk_final_Mondocover

Release: 1 October 2010
Cat#: Gomma 148

Here it is. Finally. The new Munk E.P. After more then two years Mathias Modica comes back with a 5 track EP. And it seems this release could get big. The pre–release single La Musica came in June and had euphoric reactions. Erol Alkan, Ellen Alien, Tim Sweeney and even Mark Ronson are playing it. Busy P used it for his first Mix CD and Kitsune, Bugged Out, Hed Kandi will re-release this italo house anthem on their upcoming compilations. Even Karl Lagerfeld wanted the song in the soundtrack for his Chanel – movie Remember Now.

The Mondo Vagabondo E.P. is kind of a melancholic dance record. Housemusic and Digital Funk with influences from Psychedelic Rock, Italo Pop, Piano disco… lots of electronic afro percussions, sweet melodies, big chords & screaming organs, irresistible bass lines and a balearic ground vibe. Vocals by Parisian singer Clara Cometti – who used to be part of Koko von Napoo, Munich underground disco queen Francy Goertz and Mathias himself.
