Gomma history

Gomma was born in 2000.
Created, curated and directed by Mathias „Munk“ Modica and Jonas Imbery, who later left the label.
Art direction by Mirko Borsche & Thomas Kartsolis aka Smal & Paze.

Music:
We released indie disco, new wave funk, weird pop & experimental electronica by artists like
WhoMadeWho, Munk, Headman, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Moullinex, Mocky, Daniel Avery, Dimitri from Paris, Lele (aka Parra), Tomas „Tomboy“ Barfod, Box Codax (Franz Ferdinand side project) and others.

Munk/ Gomma also produced music for/ with
James Murphy, Asia Argento, The Rammellzee, Peaches, Nancy Whang (LCD Soundsystem)…
We curated compilations dedicated to New Wave Funk & Post Rock: ANTI NY (2001) and TEUTONIK DISASTER (2004)

Art & Graphics:
We made art and visual projects, published the graphic magazine Amore and curated exhibitions in galleries around the world.
Gomma retrospectives have taken place in Munich (Haus der Kunst), Stockholm (Beneath gallery), Berlin (Circle Culture), Tokio (with 032C magazine) and other cities.

Fashion:
We produced over 50 different limited editon design shirts.

We made music for shows, events and campaigns of fashionbrands such as Margiela, Wood Wood, Surface to Air, Chanel and worked for Parisian fashion institution Colette.

Rodion – For Ever Remixes (Maxi)

Italo House and crazy country disco producer Rodion from Rome created a little wave of euphoria among music aficionados when he released his 5 track E.P. For Ever in June 2010. The single Estate with Lou Austen was a little summer hit. Now here comes a remix package with great reworks by some the new house heroes:

Bostro Pesopeo (Permanent Vacation), new Gomma act Mercury, Italian allstars Ajello, Martin Brodin upcoming house shootingstar from Stockholm and Anthony Mansfield from New York. Here comes a new Gomma Dance Tracks minicompilation with five unreleased dancefloor killers. Futuristic house and technoid Disco by 5 guys from 5 countries: Copyshop from France already released on Bearfunk and comes up with a huge vocal house anthem featuring NYC based singer Naommon. David Evangelos from Zurich is a old friend of Holy Ghost and the DFA gang. Now he comes up with his first tune. And you can imagine where the influence comes from….

Alan1 is a 24 year old genius from Rome. His first EP will come on Gomma this winter but his friend Bobermann – aka Bob Rifo of the Bloody Beatroots did this remix bomb for him which we can’t wait to release finally. Martin Brodin runs Swedish new house label Deeplay and comes with this heavy heavy house stomper, and Jack Tennis is one of Berlin’s leading House DJ’s , presenting his first tune on Gomma Dance Tracks.
