Before the new Munk album will be released in spring 2010 now we release this compilation full of technofunk and mad disco hit remixes…already featured on the playlist of DJs all over the world.

Our little Gomma label is currently making a little transformation: originally we only released the music of friends and new yet unknown talents… but since a few months we are getting this huge attention not only from all the cool blogs (yes..thanks guys!) but also from a lot of  already more established musicians. In fact, after James Murphy (DFA), Nick McCarthy (Franz Ferdinand) and Soulwax participated on Gomma releases, now we have a second wave of BIG guys that asked us to release their projects. Next to The Phenomenal Handclap Band (which includes members of TV On The Radio, John Spencer and others) now German super group DIE STERNE asked MATHIAS MODICA from MUNK to produce their new music and put out a 3 track E.P on Gomma.

DIE STERNE are part of the so called “Hamburger Schule”….Blumfeld and Tocotronic are other bands that were part of this wave of German pop music. These bands from Hamburg defined a quite intellectual, new attitude back in the 90ies. DIE STERNE are very well known in Germany…EVERYBODY loves them… so now its fun that they asked us to do this record….but of course: we are honored….. and their new style which was created by Mathias …our Munkyboy from Marseille….is …don’t know…maybe imagine DFA recording their stuff with a London garage punk band, some weirdo east European old school printing machine noises and German lyrics…
Anyway: The E.P. went straight to number 1 in the Amazon download genre charts in Germany. Yeah…

Mathias Modica ….our man from MUNK comes up with his new DJ Mix for the autumn season.

Currently he is living in Marseille, but recording the new MUNK album in Rome.This new 70 minutes indie disco mixtape includes lots of unreleased music.. like the MUNK remix of The Phenomenal Handclap Band – which currently getting a quite big blog buzz.
Also you can hear upcoming stuff by Breakbot, the new Still Going remix of Crazy P, Tensnake and others….ahh yeah: and the new CUT COPY remix of Munk’s BACKDOWN is there too… (which has just been released on Gomma Dance Tracks, check out the single.)

Hey friends, 25 September will be the release of some new MUNK Remixes. MIGUMATIX from Munich, L.U.C.A. from Rome and CUT COPY from Australia did some really really cool remixes of “Back Down”, a song from the Cloudbuster album.

They are great….and everybody seem to looove them already. The new band from New York on Gomma. The PHENOMENAL HANDCLAP BAND play psychedelic funk and they are making waves all around. Everybody is getting mad about them since the first recordings were circulating the world’s web. Even London’s NME chose them as one of their favorite bands for this year.
The band consists of 8 members, all part of new York alternative funk and indie rock scene. Besides there are many guest on the debut album: JON SPENCER from the BLUES EXPLOSION and members of TV ON THE RADIO and AMY WINEHOUSE’s backing band.

Album out in October. The single: “You’ll Disappear”, includes remixes by Prins Thomas, Gomma’s own Munk, Ilya Santana and Horse Meat Disco.

Currently the band is touring in UK: if you have a chance check them out. Its more than a concert..it’s a sacral funk ceremony.
